This film, which includes details about the release late last year of Burma’s famous pro-democracy leader after many years living under house arrest, is due to be screened at various festivals in Europe and Asia this year, including the Human World Film Festival at Austria in December.Earlier this year, the film (minus the ‘new’ sequence) enjoyed a packed screening at London’s Frontline Club. It also created waves at festivals such as the ‘Cinema For Peace’ Foundation in Berlin, “Movies That Matter’ festival at The Hague, and the ‘Human Rights Festival’ in Istanbul.The most notable feature of ‘Lady of No fear’ is that it’s one of the first to give an insight into the personal life of Suu Kyi, which she always been very private about. Danish Director Anne Gyrithe Bonne researched for more than three years, meeting numerous people connected with the Burmese leader, in London, New York, Washington, Burma, Mae Sot, and other parts of Thailand. She went through hordes of archives, libraries, and photographs, before she putting together a riveting personal tale of Daw Suu, on film.
